BLINK

BLINK Visual Art Programme and Art Trail was devised by Ian Wieczorek as a stand-alone element of Westport Arts Festival 2010 (30th September - 9th October). It comprised 19 exhibitions and events that took place throughout the town of Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland. It was implemented with the assistance of artists Caroline Masterson and Breda Burns.

Invited - Group Show
An exhibition of visual art showcasing invited artists, at Tim Hastings' Garage in Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Instigated by Ian Wieczorek, co-curated by Ian Wieczorek and Caroline Masterson.

DOUBLE VISION
- GMIT @ Castlebar Students and Graduates
A themed mixed media show of work by past and present students of GMIT @ Castlebar's Art & Design Degree Course, based on 20x20cm squares of prepared card. Devised, instigated and curated by Ian Wieczorek at the Custom House Studios, The Quay, Westport, Co. Mayo

R A F Flight RG843 - John McHugh
Structure Series Drawings - Betty Gannon
An exhibition of sculptures based on the memory and recovered metal remnants of an RAF aircraft which crashed in Achill on 16th June 1950 by invited sculptor and Achill native John McHugh. Shown in conjunction with a selection of large scale drawings exploring structure and the dynamics of order and chaos by invited visual artist Betty Gannon.
The exhibition took place in the former Bank of Ireland, The Mall, Westport.

Seen/Unseen - Open Submission Show
A themed open-submission show of visual art from artists both locally-based and as part of a national call-out, comprises painting, drawing, photography, print and more, in McGing's Bar, High Street, Westport.

Augmented Frankenstein Reality - Ursula Janig
An exhibition of painted images on wooden plates created by invited Austrian artist Ursula Janig on the theme ‘film and the development of the term of an extended reality’.
Exhibition located in Westport Library, The Crescent, Westport.

Could There Be Love? / Romance Confessional
- Niamh Davis
An exhibition of videos and other works by invited Dublin-based interdisciplinary artist Niamh Davis, thematically exploring human emotions. Using universal themes deriving inspiration from sources as diverse as reality TV to Beckett, from personal love letters to the French philosopher Alain Badiou’s theories on love.
Niamh also held a Romance Confessional in the Gallery, inviting the public to share confessions or romantic tales anonymously.
Exhibition located in Andrew Stone Gallery, Bridge Street,Westport.

Art Lecture: John Mulloy
- So, what is public art when it's at home?
Art lecturer and long-time community artist Dr John Mulloy gives a lively, informative and provocative talk about public art: what it was, what it is, and what it could be.
The lecture took place at the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel, The Quay, Westport.
